Our Facility
Construction of the Emmerton Park Aged Care Facility, designed by specialist aged care architects Philp Lighton, was completed in 2008 and the central walkway was added in 2011 reducing the distance between our main lounge and dining room.
Our facility is located adjacent to the Senior Citizens’ Centre and close to our independent living unit sites. Smithton Township, shopping and business district, medical centre and hospital are within 1.5km to the facility.
Common Areas and Services
Our facility has numerous common and dining areas including:
• Main dining room which is located adjacent to the kitchen to ensure residents can enjoy the activity and aromas from the kitchen. The walls are adorned with quality art work with a local or dining theme. Outdoor dining is available in our central courtyard where barbeques are often held in warmer months. We hold special buffet luncheons regularly which allow all residents a selection of local, seasonal and Tasmanian produce skilfully prepared by our professional catering staff. A smaller dining area provides intimate surroundings for residents requiring privacy and special assistance. All dining areas are fitted with contemporary designer furniture.
• Lounges are furnished with comfortable lounge chairs designed specifically for the aged. Each lounge has a theme. Cosy Corner allows residents to sit and enjoy craft, needlework, knitting and socialising with families and friends. Our Sports Bar includes a gallery of sporting memorabilia and cable TV. Our Sun Room overlooks the residents' vegetable gardens. Our large Main Lounge has a large screen TV and is the venue for most group activities and has computers available for resident use. The Special Needs Lounge has been upgraded with older style features such as fireplace and mantelpiece and provides access to the secure garden.
• Our chapel seats 60 people and is available for private services. We also have a Family Quiet Room which can cater for overnight stays and family meetings. Residents have their own hair salon available for our weekly service or private hair care arrangements.
• Our landscaped central courtyard features shade cloth, raised gardens, water features and statues and other rural ornaments. We even have our own ducks that give residents a lot of joy.
• Residents have their own vegetable and fruit gardens, hot house and raised beds.
