My Aged Care for finding services, eligibility and assessment, financial help and costs including Aged Care Assessment. Aged Care Assessment Teams (ACAT) work with the frail aged, elderly and their carers to determine what kind of care will suit their needs.

Australian Aged Care Quality Agency - The Commission assesses and monitors the quality of care and services against the Aged Care Quality Standards. Information and resources are available to help service providers and their consumers understand the Standards.

Department of Social Services works to deliver quality, affordable and accessible aged care and carer support services for older people, including through subsidies and grants, industry assistance, training and regulation of the aged care sector.

Advocacy Tasmania work to promote and protect the rights and interests of their clients. They provide a free, State-wide, independent and confidential advocacy service to older people, people with mental health issues, people with disabilities and people with drug and/or alcohol related problems, their carers and relatives.

Guardianship and Administration Board can make decisions for the benefit of persons who have a disability and are unable to make reasonable judgements about lifestyle and financial matters.

The functions of the Board are extensive and include powers in relation to:

  • Emergency situations
  • Consent to medical of dental treatment

Services for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or intersex seniors­ - The Silver Rainbow project is designed to improve the experiences of LGBTI people as they age and enter the Australian aged care system.
